Warranty

The short version

  • Keyboards: 1-year warranty from the day your board is delivered.
  • Repairs for life: I'll repair any Skree keyboard, no matter how old. Outside the warranty it may come with a charge, and I always quote before doing any work.
  • Parts and services: see below.

What the keyboard warranty covers

Defects in materials or in my workmanship under normal use. For example:

  • a key, column or half that stops working because of a solder joint or wiring fault
  • a microcontroller, sensor or PCB that I installed failing on its own
  • a case that cracks or splits without being dropped or crushed

What it doesn't cover

  • drops, crushing, liquid spills or other accidental damage
  • damage from modifications, rewiring or soldering done by someone else
  • normal wear: keycap shine, faded legends, switch wear, worn feet
  • damage in shipping when a board is sent to me poorly packed
  • batteries (they aren't covered by the warranty)

Flashing your own firmware does not void the warranty. That's half the fun.

How to make a claim

  1. Contact me with your order number, what's happening, and a photo or short video if you can.
  2. We troubleshoot together first. Lots of problems are firmware, pairing or a loose cable, and get fixed in a few minutes.
  3. If it needs hands-on work, I'll tell you how to send it in.

In the US: you ship the board to me, and I cover the return shipping for warranty repairs.

International warranty

I'm a one-person shop and can't cover international shipping both ways, so warranty claims from outside the US work like this:

  1. Remote first. We troubleshoot together over Discord, email or video.
  2. Free replacement parts. If a part has failed (controller, sensor, switch, PCB), I mail you the replacement free.
  3. If the board has to come back, you pay shipping both ways and any import fees. Parts and labor are still free while it's under warranty.

Tip for return packages: declare them as "Warranty repair, returned goods". That often avoids duties, but it's up to your country's customs.

Out-of-warranty repairs

Any Skree keyboard, any age. Tell me what's wrong and I'll quote parts, labor and return shipping before starting. Nothing happens until you approve the quote.

Parts, PCBs and DIY items

Parts that arrive faulty are replaced or refunded if you tell me within 30 days of delivery and they haven't been soldered or modified.

Services (switch swaps, PCB repair)

My work is guaranteed for 90 days. If a switch or joint I worked on fails in that time, I'll fix it free (you cover shipping to me, I cover the return in the US).
